I had the day off, so I finally started playing Dark Souls (I did for 2-3 hours on launch week, but now I’m starting over). It’s pretty fun! In a trial-and-error kind of way (nothing no one already knew here). I also think not having music throughout most of the game makes the moments there is some much more striking, because you know shit’s about to get real. With such sounds being composed by Motoi Sakuraba, no less. Schwing! For the most part, I think I’ve been doing okay. I wished I were someone adept in the art of Dark Souls and were a reference point like I knew the game like the back of my hand, but shamefully I put it down and kept pushing it back further and further due to a mix of laziness and other games. I’m being super hard headed though. Going up to demons I think you’re meant to fight mid-game and me ramming them with a spiked club. I don’t know if this is good or not, but I just reached the 6 hour mark and I’m level 30. Would sure love to beat it before Persona 4 Mayokana comes in from Japan, but I don’t think I have it in me to beat this in six days (that’s a lie, I do). Also looking at Demon and Dark Souls’ large popularity, I’m kind of throwing back to how much I used to love From Software, when I would rant and rave about Otogi, or Metal Wolf Chaos. It’s really nice to see them getting tons of recognition now. Oh, and the Titanite Demon is boss.
